We are on a mission to empower everyone to discover what their mind can do.
What we do
Our mission drives us to build brain training experiences that are engaging, playful, and designed by scientists.
We do this by:
Advancing and accelerating cognitive research through partnerships with research institutions around the world
Developing treatments for people with cognitive and neurological conditions through digital therapeutics
Creating brain training programs for everyone, designed by our scientists, and based on findings from our massive data set on the human mind.*
*Please note that these three areas represent three different parts of our business: the Lumosity brain training app which is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, the research platform for research institutions/researchers, and our digital medicine solutions, which we will submit for FDA 510(k) approval.
How it works
Our core initiatives are all integrated and working toward the same goal.
Brain Training Apps not only provide our members with a way to challenge, train, and stimulate their cognition, but our 100M+ users have all helped to complete 7+ billion cognitive tasks. This massive growing data set supports our…
Research, where we partner with the research institutions around the world to learn more about cognition and the power of brain training tools. In some cases, these findings will uncover potential benefits for clinical populations, which can lead to the development of…
Digital Medicine. We are leveraging some of our most promising discoveries and hypotheses and putting them through rigorous clinical testing to develop digital treatments for cognitive and neurological conditions.
About our CEO
Bob Schafer is a neuroscientist and entrepreneur.
Bob earned his PhD in neuroscience from Stanford University and was a postdoctoral fellow at MIT. He has published original research in top journals including Science and Neuron.
Prior to joining Lumos Labs, he was founder and CEO of a YCombinator-funded startup company that used neuroscience and predictive analytics to improve hiring decisions and team development.
In 2015, Bob and his startup team joined Lumos Labs. Here, Bob has served in a number of roles leading research, product, and business initiatives, including the formation of the company's medical division, Lumosity DTx.
Our story
Lumos Labs was founded in 2005, inspired by the simple premise that anyone, anywhere, could use digital brain training to exercise key mental functions or skills and discover what their mind can do. Since then, our programs have grown to reach over 100 million people around the world.
Today, our vision has expanded to the exciting new frontier of digital medicine. We are applying over 15 years of brain training experience to explore and develop programs designed to treat, monitor, or rehabilitate those with cognitive and neurological conditions.
